“Other than the Internet, this is the best invention since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.”

salt

No, it’s not pasteurization, the polio vaccine, or the human genone project. Drum roll please; dddddrrrrrrrrrrrrr…. It’s Bacon Salt, the fat free, zero calorie, low sodium, vegetarian, Kosher, seasoning salt that makes everything taste like bacon.  Baconpreneurs, Justin Esch and Dave Lefkow started the company in 2007 with $5,000 they won on America’s Funniest Home Videos with a video of Dave getting hit in the face by his three year old son with a baseball.  I could not make up a story this good. I guess the American dream is still alive, and it tastes like bacon.

Bacon Salt, and its offspring Baconnaise (available in regular and lite), have been generating significant buzz with appearances on The Daily Show, Good Morning America, and Fox News.  They have a YouTube channel, and hoards of dedicated fans on facebook and Twitter. Why the hell not? If there is one meat that transcends socio-economic, cultural, and political differences in this country that one meat is bacon. And as not to ostracize our vegetarian and Jewish friends, Bacon Salt is vegetarian and certified Kosher. There’s even an organized movement called Operation Bacon Salt to send the seasoning to U.S. troops fighting in Muslim countries where pork is forbidden. The people have spoken. And what the people want is for everything to taste like bacon.

“This makes me want to cry sweet bacony tears of joy.”
– Because Emily Says So Blog

“When the Baconnaise hit my taste buds, I’m pretty sure the Earth moved and angels sang.”
– I Was Told There Would Be Bacon Blog

“It’s like Bacon Christmas at our house. (Baconnaise is) the perfect blend of mayonnaise and bacon, and I look forward to it livening up my meals.”
– Anita Martini

“This is one of those inventions, like the wheel or the incandescent light bulb, that will forever change the landscape of our culture.”
– John Campanelli, Cleveland Plain Dealer

Love how you managed to combine bacon and the lol cats. Quite impressive. And strange.

On a side note, I will be purchasing this on my next grocery store visit.

If this is yummy. I get to stay vegetarian and indulge in bacony-delight. Could be life-changing.

It is not yummy. We tried it on soup and popcorn and all it really does is coat your mouth in a weird film. Quite a dissapointment.

It was gross salt, but a terrific post.
