Face to Face Meetings

February 27, 2009

I’ve been in meetings all week with clients.  One meeting was specifically designed to foster collaboration.  Others were strategy meetings.  An insight from the road:  Some things take dedicated face time.  Some things cannot be worked out via conference call, e-mail or PowerPoint decks.  Some issues require setting aside a few hours with an agenda and the right people in the room working the problem.  Technology is great, but productive clear communication often requires an old-fashioned conversation.  Something to think about next time you’re stuck in e-mail swirl or conference call hell.  Hop on a plane, sit down with the principals and work it out.
