Paying Attention

A recent post by Russell Davies has stuck with me for days, so I thought I’d share it.  It’s about paying attention.

“I find that unless I trick myself into paying attention to music that I either just revert to tried and trusted favourites or let all sorts of new stuff just drift by me in an ambient haze.  Not really listening.  So I thought I’d try a 26 week experiment; listening to a new letter every week just to see what I notice.  This is week A.”

Russell’s powers of observation and insight are legendary. This experiment in mindfully paying attention to something to see what he discovers is a great reminder of how great strategists get there. Pay attention in a way that makes you think about things differently.
