Wax on, Wax off

Sometimes there’s a method to the madness. Sometimes there’s a hidden motive behind requests that seem pointless. Decisions that seem random are not random. I realized today while talking to a frustrated team leader that the work involved in creating a winning team can appear as so much meaningless waxing. Wax on, wax off … why are we doing this? What’s going on? Why? And resentment grows. But it all comes down to trust. We are all being asked to wax the floor, paint the fence, paint the house. And trust that we are learning karate and will win in the end. I’m not going to reveal a master plan, but I will suggest that we have a few Miyagis walking the halls. Give them a break. Wax on, wax off. Paint the fence. Paint the house. And when the time comes, RT will win.

I’m off to paint the house.
